Food & Wine
Discover great food, great wine and local flavors in Prince William and Manassas.
Day One: Begin at the Winery at La Grange. Nestled at the foothills of the Bull Run Mountains, this winery provides stunning views and a tasting room in an 18th century manor house. Snuggle into a chair by the fireplace or take a bottle outside for a picnic. The winery produces almost a dozen wines including a Tannat, Norton and Merlot.
After, travel to Old Town Manassas to experience one of several locally owned eateries. Enjoy Louisiana fare at Okra’s Cajun Creole. Painted in Mardi Gras colors, Okra’s is in the heart of the town’s entertainment district and features live music, outdoor dining and plenty of Mardi Gras beads. Or, grab tapas at City Square Café then sip wine al fresco at the nearby Monza, named after a city in Italy.
Day Two: Before getting back in the car, visit Opera House Gourmet in Historic Downtown Manassas. Enjoy wine tastings and pick up a gourmet treat in the store, which features oils, glazes, jams, specialty chocolates and more.
With your treats in hand, head to Historic Occoquan. Sample one of 50-plus Belgian brews at Cock & Bowl. Tucked away on one of the alleys in Occoquan, the restaurant mimics a European bistro with frites, seafood and beers each served in a specially designed glass. After, enjoy free wine tastings on weekends at Tastefully Yours and Bottle Stop. Finish the day with dinner along the Occoquan River at Madigan’s Waterfront. Relax at the outdoor tiki bar or enjoy fine steak and fresh seafood inside the cozy, local eatery.
